Wow, I'm at college in South Mississippi and I know people who have never even seen snow. Most I've ever seen was 4 inches....

SaffFEB 10 2012

I've never seen snow in my entire life. The only time I actually go to New Jersey in December/January, it doesn't even snow. *sigh*

NicoleFEB 10 2012

I know the snow storm you refer to from 2011....here in Texas we call it Snomageddon. College was closed for 2 wks. :D

AshleyFEB 24 2012

We called it the Snowpocalypse here in North Georgia... We don't usually get any snow here, because it goes around us, but 2011, we were closed for a full week. Tells you how used to snow Piedmont College is!

i experienced the 2006 snow cancellation

2010, University of Pittsburgh closed it's campus for the first time in 30 years. We had 3 days off too! I think we ended up with between 24 and 30+ inches depending on what part of the city you were in. Snowpocalypse.

Come to school in Boston! We close for flurries! :)

MyBrothersACretinFEB 10 2012

School wasn't closed for that one week or so of actual snow we had, let alone any flurries. I wish it would, but we definitely don't close for flurries.

Last year in Chicago we had Snowpocalypse. It was 21 inches of snow and then freezing waves crashing onto Lakeshore drive. There were abandoned cars and busses in the middle of the streets. South Loop shut down for three days and school was canceled for 3 days as well. It was EPIC. Here is one of my favorite pictures from it. Best three days EVER!!!!!!

I go to college in Georgia. Last January we shut down for an entire week because of snow. It was 8 inches so we called it Snowpocalypse. I was stuck at home with no power for 3 days. I still think that the word 'snow' is a curse word. haha

Jackie ManzoFEB 10 2012

yeah....we don't have to worry about that here in California. I'm from Southern California and I attend school in Northern California. It rains a way more up here but sadly, no snow :(

RedneckOtakuFEB 10 2012

THIS is my school. We never close...

I'm from Washington and we had a lot of snow a few weeks ago. I got school and work off for a week. Unfortunately that meant no paycheck but ALSO no studying.

martyFEB 11 2012

you should have added that when you get to class and the teachers ends up cancelling the class at the last minute.

We call it Icepocolypse '11. We got about a foot of ice under a foot of snow, with some more ice sprinkled on top. Needless to say, we were declared in a state of emergency, we had no power for several days, and school was out for a week.

A neat guyFEB 16 2012

@Makr that was a fun week

GingieMAR 2 2012

I'm from Canada and I find it so funny that people are saying 2.5 feet of snow is called snowpocalypse.. Where I come from we're used to 15 feet every winter. A foot of snow isn't enough to stop anyone at all, and we always have class. You folks have it easy.

KunnakiSEP 16 2012

We don't have this problem down here in Louisiana. We just have a lot of rain and wind.

Salem Oregon. 1/2 inch equals total closure. Funny thing is that Salem Oregon the record temp is -12F from sometime in the 70s during an epic Siberian Express. Portland Oregon's record cold is -2F in Jan of 1950 at the end of the month and I can't imagine the wind chill since the NE part of Portland Oregon faces the Columbia River which during cold spells east winds HOWL thru there. Salem Oregon is actually an hour further south and still had that -12F reading in the 70s and as recent as Feb 1989 hit right at 0F for one night after a foot of snow.

HeatblizzardSEP 27 2013

Note. When Portland Oregon gets easterly winds it is a NE wind in Salem gusting very lightly.
